We know that during the Romanticism period (Transcendentalism and American Gothicism), the authors often had persuasive or argumentative purposes. Then, during Realism and Naturalism, the writing purposes were less persuasive. Describe some of the possible writing purposes for Realism, and then also describe the possible writing purposes of Naturalism.

To Build a Fire is an example of naturalism because we are very detached from the character, in fact so detached that we actually laugh at the character while he struggles.

ReplyDelete2. The outcast of poker flat is an example of realism because it is realistic and straight forward.
3. There was comedy, sarcasm and humor used.
4. It is a frame tale because it is a story within a story.
5. It's about possible real situations and has humor occasionally.
6. It has scientific facts to prove things, and it does not focus on characters.
7. The purpose for realism is to show what people do in different problems. The purpose for naturalism is to show show how scientific facts effect peoples lives.
